Juma Leadership News

The Juma Ventures Board of Directors announced today that Dr. Marc Spencer is leaving his role as CEO as of October 1, 2017.  We are grateful for the impact Dr. Spencer has had with Juma, and are pleased to congratulate him as he embarks upon his next professional phase as CEO of Summer Search, a youth development non-profit based in San Francisco.  Scott Garell, Chairman, Board of Directors, Juma Ventures, said “Marc has provided outstanding leadership and helped grow Juma Ventures significantly over the past 11 years. We thank him for his contributions and wish him the very best at Summer Search.”

Adriane Armstrong, Juma’s current COO, will be named Acting CEO of Juma Ventures, effective September 1, 2017. Adriane is a proven leader of the business, having driven Juma’s strategy and growth for seven years, the past three as Chief Operating Officer.  Through Adriane’s efforts in team building, partnership development and strategic execution, Juma has grown from a $3m organization in three cities, to the current footprint of nine cities and $9m operating budget.

As he departs, Marc says, “I’m humbled to have been on Juma’s journey and a co-creator in its effort to help break the cycle of poverty for more than a thousand low-income youth. Juma has taught me that we can have a marked impact on the lives of youth when you have a team of dedicated people willing to show up and bring 100% every day. I’m excited to see what is next for Juma.”
