Dear Juma Community,
From our inception, Juma Ventures has sought to promote the beauty and diversity of the young people we serve, as well as the diversity of the staff who make up the organization. As a community working to destroy systemic racism in our quest to achieve our vision of a workforce that is more inclusive, equitable, and diverse, we are appalled and deeply saddened to see the uprise in hatred, violence, and murder against our family in the Asian, Asian-American and Pacific Islander community.
Over the course of the past year, specifically during the pandemic, there have been over 3,800 reported hate crimes towards members of the AAPI community. These are symptoms of a deeply insidious historic problem, showing up in new and not-so-new ways far too often. People are actively choosing harm over healing, prejudice over collective positive impact. And it needs to stop.
Juma Ventures condemns all forms of hate and discrimination and we stand in solidarity with our AAPI Community.
